AN AERONAUT'S FATE.

Louis Girard, Who Goes Up In Hot Air Balloon at Taunton, Mass., Falls 150 Feet.

Taunton, Mass., Sept. 25.—In full sight of a crowd variously estimated at from 15,000 to 20,000 people, Louis Girard, one of the aeronauts with the Stafford troupe, fell 150 feet with a collapsed hot air balloon at the Bristol county fair Wednesday, and died in an hour afterwards from his injuries. The ascension and parachute drop following were to have been a triple one, participated in by Prof. and Mlle. Stafford and Girard. When the balloon ascended Mlle. Stafford was prevented from accompanying it by a slight accident.
