TEMPEST.

On the 5th inst. a violent whirlwind, attended with rain and thunder, was experienced in the town of Gray, Cumberland county. Its effects were confined to but a few rods in width, within which, waste and devastation marked its progress. Trees were either twisted asunder or torn from the soil, and buildings unroofed and entirely demolished. The dwelling-house of Mr. Humphreys was greatly shattered, and the roof taken off. His barn a building of 70 or 80 feet in length, was removed from its foundation and totally destroyed.
