Full Text

Editor Eagle.

Dear Sir—It seems that the elevated roads (or some of them at least) are never obliged to comply with the provisions of the ordinances under which they operate. If I am not misinformed these ordinances provide that the trains on these roads shall be run at stated times, but I notice on certain branches that trains are started out at the terminals only as often as the company or its operator calculates he has a good fat harvest of passengers awaiting them at the different stations. Some of our reforming and public-spirited Aldermen might look into this with much profit to their constituents, particularly on the West Side.

Very respectfully,

J. McC.

Main Argument

elevated roads do not comply with ordinances mandating fixed train schedules, instead running trains opportunistically based on passenger numbers; aldermen should investigate this issue, especially on the west side, for the benefit of constituents.
