We see from our exchange papers, that the Hon. John C. Calhoun, the Hon. Daniel Webster, and the Hon. Mr. Walker, are spoken of as the gentlemen from whom Mr. Tyler will make his selection of a Secretary of State.

Since the above was in type, we have received the Charleston Courier of Monday last, which states that the Hon. John C. Calhoun has been nominated by President Tyler, as Secretary of State, to fill the vacancy occasioned by the lamented death of Secretary Upshur, and that the Senate, without the usual formality of referring the nomination to a Committee, unanimously approved the appointment.
