Since that account was in type we have received an account of another scene of violence enacted at Brockville. The facts as we gather them seem to be these. The Steam Boat Telegraph was at Brockville, Upper Canada, where she took in several passengers—and received the visit and insults of an unarmed mob who evinced a disposition to kick up a riot. Immediately after the boat started, it was hailed and ordered to come to. The captain thinking there was more passengers, stopped the engine and dropt down to within twenty feet of the wharf but being apprehensive that all was not right he refused to go nearer the wharf, and told the passengers to come on board in a boat. Some parley ensued in which the captain peremptorily refused to come on shore, and set his engine in motion; as soon as he did so, the crowd from the wharf fired several muskets upon his boat, and several of the balls passed through the ladies cabin. Fortunately no one was injured. Great excitement prevails in that section, among the people, which it is feared may lead to further disturbance.
