B A R B A D O E S. August 5.

By Captain Brunt, who arrived here Yesterday Morning from Martineco, we are informed, that a Brigantine, a Sloop, and three Schooners, one of which he himself commands, was cut out of Grant's Bay in Martineco, on the 28th ult. in the Afternoon, by two French Privateer Sloops of 10 Guns and 70 Men each: That on the 26th they took a Snow belonging to Marblehead, which sailed a few Days ago from hence, which they burnt the Friday Evening following, after plundering her of every thing they thought proper: That they plundered his (Capt. Brunt's) Vessel of every thing valuable, not leaving him even a Compass. and took the white Shirt off his Back. which they exchanged for a check one, and quickly divested him of the Buckles which were in his shoes: That. the Frenchmen carried them into St. Lucia, from which Place he escaped on the 30th ult. taking Possession of his Vessel in the Face of the Enemy, and bringing her off with him.

On the 26th ult., they captured and later burnt a snow from Marblehead after plundering it. Brunt's vessel was thoroughly plundered, leaving him without valuables, compass, shirt, and shoe buckles. The privateers took the vessels to St. Lucia, from which Brunt escaped on the 30th ult., retaking his schooner.
