Canton Advocate, 2nd: Delegate Gifford left for Washington Tuesday afternoon. He was accompanied by his family. At the coming session of congress all Dakota guns will be brought to bear toward securing the passage of the reservation bill. Mayor McClure and Editor McNaman, of Pierre, are already on the ground to assist in pushing the reservation measure to a successful passage. There are still some hopes left that the submission bill will squeeze through. Many of the western democrats have expressed a determination to favor the measure, and Mr. Day is personally interested in the development of the division issue. Mr. Hill it will be remembered, was defeated for re-election in his Ohio district and it is believed he is looking for newer pastures and greener fields. He is a lawyer of considerable ability, and may possibly see in Dakota's future a great chance to build up and maintain a great and powerful legal and political combination. Should he decide to locate in Dakota there is nothing that would make him more welcome than to secure the passage of his division bill just before locating among our people. This Mr. Hill sees. and it is believed the great effort of his life will be made this winter toward the fruition of his schemes for further political preferment and financial success. A strong combination will thus be set at work that may possibly bring forth from all the depths of gloom and uncertainty birth of a healthy and prosperous color. Mr. Gifford will also work for the passage of a bill redistricting the judicial districts of the territory and the appointment by the president of two additional associate justices.
