With the Fifth Army, Italy.—Capt. Henry A. Sigmon, of Denver, N. C., has been awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service in action on the Fifth Army front in Italy.
Sigmon, graves registration officer for a regiment of the 91st Infantry Division, was cited for his successful evacuation of the bodies of 122 men who had been killed in action. During the period of July 4 to August 1, when the Fifth Army was driving for the Arno river, Sigmon worked continuously for 18 hours a day, much of the time under enemy fire.
The 26-year-old officer was graduated from Davidson College, Davidson, N. C. He received his commission on April 7, 1942, from the Infantry School, Fort Benning, Ga.
