A rumour was afloat yesterday, that Gen. Miranda had abandoned, for the present, his project on the Spanish settlements, and had proceeded for Trinidad. On his arrival on the coast, he is said to have been apprised by his friends, that information having been received at Laguira, three months before, of his intended enterprise, a very formidable force were in arms to oppose him, and that, from the measures of precaution that had been adopted to prevent his obtaining a footing, there was not the least probability of success with the comparatively insignificant force he had with him; and was advised to desist from attempting to carry into execution the object he had in view, until a more favorable opportunity should present itself. We do not vouch for the truth of this report.
