Scarcely two nights have passed during which some house in this place (Lexington) within a few weeks has not been broke open. We cannot recollect the number of houses that have been broke open in this place within a few weeks.

The Kentucky Gazette of the 23d ult. says, the jails are now overstocked with thieves. The new countries, we have often observed, are soon overstocked with thieves.

The Kentucky Gazette of the 23d ult. says, that in the short space of time without one burglary being committed, and concludes with enumerating several, and calling upon the inhabitants to be vigilant.

The acquisition of Louisiana and the Floridas, may be of some service to Kentucky—for there will then be a vast shield for the peculators of all descriptions.
