The McConnelsville-Malta Electric plant has been sold, provided the council here passes the pending legislation acceptable to the purchaser.
The matter we understand is to come up before the council meeting Friday night. The name of the purchaser is not now being made public. However it is a $2,000,000 concern. and the deal goes through, which as stated is now up to the council, a high tension line will be built here to carry at least 11,000, and perhaps 22,000, volts.
This will furnish abundance of power to this locality.
The directors of the local plant here have had many different parties wanting to purchase, and they feel, looking to not only their own interests, but to the interests of all users of electric power, that the concern with which the deal is all but closed, is the most satisfactory to all parties interested.
The cost of electricity would be but a trifle more than at present, and the street lighting will even be cheaper, since no moonlight schedule will be in effect
While not in a position to discuss fully the details of the proposition, we feel very sure that the directors of the local electric light company are doing the right thing, and if the deal goes through, as we believe that it should, the matter of ample electric power for this place, good service, etc.. will have been most satisfactorily solved.
