Bristol Bay Man Sentenced After Manslaughter Conviction

ANCHORAGE, Alaska, Jan. 17.- George Ray, 44, convicted of manslaughter in connection with the death of Edward Tapsa, Bristol Bay fisherman, in a brawl on May 1 last year, has been sentenced to six years in the McNeil Island penitentiary. Ray was indicted on a second degree murder charge and the jury found him guilty. Ray pleaded self defense. Judge Simon Hellenthal, in passing sentence, said the shooting was not justified.
