A Cat Sucks out a Baby's Life.

CHICAGO, Oct. 1.—The coroner was notified of a peculiar case this morning. Little Stella Woyda, a six-months-old child, was killed by a big female cat, her breath actually having been drawn out by the feline. On Monday afternoon the baby was put in the cradle, the cat being placed alongside of it for a plaything. During the afternoon it was noticed that the cat kept continuously near the baby's bed, but little attention was paid to this. In the evening the mother, thinking her child was sleeping remarkably quiet, went to the cradle to take it out and was horrified to find her infant dead. The cat had sucked its life away. Efforts were made to resuscitate the child, but without avail. The cat is one of the common species and particularly large. It has been a household pet for several years.
