Crash Injuries
Fatal To Driver
Of Smashed Car

An Atlanta man who lost control of his car on the Northeast Expressway late Wednesday afternoon became a traffic fatality when he died approximately 24 hours later in the Hughes Spalding Pavilion as a result of wounds incurred in the tangled pile-up.

Police said they were informed Friday morning that a man they identified as James Gore, 32, of an unlisted address, had died Thursday afternoon at 5:30 after being mangled in a smash-up the previous day.

Investigating officers said they found Gore pinned in his car that was wrapped around one of the Expressway light posts, pinning himself inside.

Fire department workers were called to the scene to saw through the wrecked heap to rescue the injured man and place him in a waiting ambulance to be transported to Hughes Spalding where he died.

Police said they had charged Gore with leaving the roadway accident, hitting a fixed object and no drivers license.
