On the 5th inst. a Caucus of the "republican" members of the Virginia Legislature was held in the capitol at Richmond, on the presidential question. No particular candidate was recommended, but a majority, doubtless, are in favor of Mr. Crawford. The following resolutions were adopted: "To secure concert among the Republicans of the Union, to give the majority of the people of this nation their due ascendancy by means of the electoral votes, and to avoid a resort to the House of Representatives: "Resolved, That we approve the political sentiments declared by the Republican Members of the State of New York, at a Meeting held on the 22d day of April, 1823, and that we esteem the measure by them recommended, under existing circumstances, as the best practicable expedient. "Resolved, That the Republican Members of Congress from the State, be recommended to endeavor to procure a nomination of fit persons to fill the Offices of President and Vice President of the United States. "Resolved, That the proceedings of this Meeting be signed by the Secretary and Chairman, and be published." LINN BANKS, Chairman. WM. MUNFORD, Secretary.
