Full Text

The duty of all good citizens to defeat these schemes of cheating, whether they appear in the form of stuffing the ballot boxes, or of false counting of the votes. Vigilance, vigilance, everywhere and to the end of the canvass! This is the only guarantee of success.

Vote before you go to your business; or, better still, let business go, for one day, and work to redeem the city from misrule and extravagance. One vote may elect a Mayor.

Forged dispatches from Washington will be printed to-day, saying that District-Attorney McKeon, Mr. Butterworth and other Government officers have been removed for opposing Wood. Of course they are without the least foundation.

Look out for fraud! Last night there was a secret gathering of the Dead Rabbit leaders at Pythagoras Hall, where they agreed upon their plan of proceedings. They swore that Fernando Wood should be re-elected at whatever cost, and it is affirmed that Wood himself was there and made a speech. Virtuous Mayor!

Friends of Law and Order, be not alarmed at rumors and threats of violence. The police force is ample, and order will be preserved. There is no fear of riots; the men who make them know well what they must face. Any considerable disturbance is quite impossible. You will have free access to the polls, and no man will interfere with your rights.
