Full Text

Operations in Missouri.
St. Louis, Sept. 22.—Colonel Thompson, of the First Iowa Cavalry, just from Little Rock, says it was understood there that from twenty to thirty thousand rebels, under Price, had crossed the Arkansas River between Little Rock and Fort Smith and that all communication was cut between those points. It was not known whether Price would strike Fort Smith or march directly for this State. Shelby was expected to co-operate with him, and enter the State from the South, while he pushed his column into the Southwest. A report from another source says Price already has a force seven thousand strong in Barry county, Mo.
A heavy Federal force is concentrating at Bonneville, between Little Rock and Duvall's Bluff. Davidson's division, under General Dennis, from Morganza, La., has already arrived.
