The Democratic caucus held last Thursday evening in St. John's Hall, placed in nomination for representatives, Charles R. Risley of Silver Lane, and James H. Gunn of the Boulevard. They were the only candidates nominated with the exception of George M. Ripolone of the Meadow district, who was not present at the meeting and was not a candidate. He got eight votes. Mr. Gunn received 138 and Mr. Risley 136.
For justices of the peace the candidates chosen were: Horace C. Wickham, Fortuna Langolis. William E. Carroll, J. Eugene Callahan, Edward D. O'Brien, Frank J. Nolan and Peter S. Smith.
Mr. Risley served on the board of assessors for 20 years and is one of this town's most prominent grangers. He has served as treasurer of the East Hartford Grange for a long period and still holds that office. He is a past master and lecturer also.
He has been treasurer of the State Vegetable Growers Association and is a member of Conn. Pomological society, the Conn. Poultry association and the Hartford Market Gardeners association. Mr. Risley has served as treasurer of the Association of Connecticut Fairs. He is a former president of the First Unitarian Congregational property of Hartford.
James H. Gunn, the other nominee on the democratic ticket, lives on Connecticut boulevard and for several years was employed at the East Hartford Trust Company.
At the suggestion of John J. Burke chairman of the Democratic town committee, no nomination was made for judge of probate.
