We stop the press to announce the following distressing intelligence, received by the schooner Maria, Ferrand, master, arrived late last evening from New Orleans, in five days, (having sailed the day after the gale):--Capt. F. states, that the St. Stephens, Jones, and the Washington, Wynne, of New Orleans; and the Bright Phoebus, Sherman, of this place, were lost in the storm on Sunday last. Capt. Ferrand reports, that all on board the Washington perished; in the St. Stephens and Bright Phoebus no lives were lost.

Capt. F. reports two other vessels lost near the Pass Christian--Names not known.--Floridian.
