Full Text

Emigration.--Such an emigration never took place from New England before, as is now going on. On all the railroads leading South the rush is enormous. All the accounts we get from there show that the South welcome these young men with open arms, and aid them in all the ways they can, instead of tarring and feathering them, if they speak a word against slavery, as in days gone by. Now that slavery is abolished, the South turn to Northern emigration as their greatest need. No Northern men are so thoroughly respected in the South as our soldiers, who are going South in large numbers to settle. They have seen the fine soil and climate of the South while fighting in it, and return now to live there, in a warm climate, as cold weather is approaching.
