Full Text

Was Murder Beyond Doubt.

There is now no doubt that the unknown who was so unceremoniously buried the other day without the formality of an autopsy, had been murdered in the tenderloin.

At this writing his name has not been learned but the constable's office has information which leads the officers to believe that he had been employed in a saw mill in Plumas county. The fact that he was minus a thumb is the only means by which he ever can be identified.

He had a lot of money in his pockets on the evening he was murdered. He contemplated making a visit to the east and was negotiating with Station Agent Phillips for a first class ticket to Omaha. The officers may have the body exhumed today and an autopsy performed.-Journal.
