Extract of a letter dated "Philadelphia, September 4."
"I wrote a first to send by Mr. Tom, but missed him. I wrote only to regret your publications about the Academy at West Point,- There has been going on a system in relation to that Academy or two years past, just like that in the army, in which talents and virtue
have been the victims of intrigue, quackery and outrage. It is only part of the scheme and the work of the same men who have sought to degrade and disgrace every thing superior to themselves mark my words, you will find it as I say.
"Captain Partridge was the superior in rank of Major T. who is only a brevet Major. What orders and counter orders they had received respectively. I know not; but a true history of the transaction may shortly be expected."
