Full Text

A Mistake.

The Bay State Democrat says:-

"We notice amongst the yeas, in the Senate, on the vote to renew the charter of six broken banks in the District of Columbia, the name of Levi Woodbury, of New Hampshire. Can this be so? and if so, does that vote represent the views of democratic New Hampshire?"

The Concord Patriot adds the following:-

"We were utterly astonished to see Mr. Woodbury's vote in favor of the bill. We feel no hesitation in saying that a vote for the passage of such a bill does not represent the views of democratic New Hampshire."

Gentlemen, we apprehend you are a little too fast. We have examined our files of the Daily Globe, and in the Senate, Thursday, August 5, we find the yeas and nays on the third reading of the bill—Mr. Woodbury's name is not amongst the yeas. We presume you will be happy in improving the first opportunity to correct the error.
