Douglas, Ariz, Aug. 11.-Preliminary hearings of four more defendants in the Bisbee deportation cases, Arthur Houle, Biddy Doyle, John Angius and John Hembrick, all residents of Bisbee, were held in the justice court this morning. The hearings of two other Warren district men, Henry Benton and John Scott, charged with Kidnapping for alleged participation in the deportations that followed the I W. W. strike in the Warren mining district, were started today and continued until tomorrow, when witnesses summoned by the state failed to appear.
The hearing of Houle, superintendent of the Shattuck Arizona Copper company's properties at Bisbee, occupied the greater part of the day in court, although but two witnesses appeared to testify for the state.
Houle, according to the witnesses, was one of the armed guards who kept the deported men in line when they were being loaded onto the train at Warren baseball park that carried them to Columbus, N. M.
It is expected that the group of fifty-one cases, which has occupied the justice court for the last three weeks, will be completed by tomorrow afternoon. Hearings of the following men remain to be held before the group is finished: Joe Colford, Sam McGee, Barney Williams, Ned White, J. O. Walker, Joe Hembrick, L. L. Gilman and James McAleer, all miners and business men of Bisbee.
