NORFOLK, Feb 25.

By a gentleman from Martinique, we are favored with the following account of the capture of the Lepique frigate; That the French having intimation of ten transports with troops being arrived off Guadaloupe, sent the Lepique frigate of 44 guns to protect them from the British sloop the Blanche of 32 guns, which was cruising to intercept the transports; both frigates meeting, a terrible engagement took place, which lasted upwards of four hours, during which the French attempted to board the Blanche three different times, but were each time repulsed with great slaughter; the Lepique having lost her fore top-mast, her fore-yard got fast in the shrouds of the Blanche, which gave her the opportunity of raking the Lepique, who still defended herself with great bravery until the Bellona hove in sight, when she struck. The Captain and a Lieutenant of the Blanche were killed, and upwards of 74 of the crew; the slaughter on board the Lepique was great. Both frigates were obliged to be towed into Martinique.
