Full Text

A squall visited New-York last Sunday afternoon at nearly the same time as here; near thirty persons were drowned in consequence thereof, men, women, and children that were taking their pleasure on the river. Reports were in circulation of many other persons being lost, by the oversetting of boats. Much damage, it is said, was also done to houses and orchards. "It is a melancholy reflection (says a New-York paper) to consider the number of persons drowned every year in taking their pleasure on the Sabbath."-Possibly with the person that made this pious reflection, Sunday is the only busy day in the week.
