LOVE'S KISS.

Her hand was in mine--I gazed on her eye,
She turned from my glance; but said in a sigh
"Tis sweet to my heart;" I saw the light
Subside,
As the feeling of silence deep'ned its blush
And the mute falling tear, o'er her bosom that stole,
Love's purest of tokens the gem of the soul:
I thought me of Heaven, my dream was of bliss,
Till passion imprinted its holiest kiss,
And drank of that tear the balm of the blest;
I knelt at her feet--she sank on my breast
She spoke not--but wept the soft vow "I am thine."
And the kiss she returned was yet purer than mine.
