Full Text

We are informed by the Register of the Land Office at Jeffersonville, that nearly the whole of the purchasers of public lands in this district have taken the benefit of the Relief Law, either by prompt payment, relinquishment, or further credit. It is thought that there are not more than 40 or 50 certificates yet out, that were not presented and acted on, before the expiration of the law. We are happy to hear of the order and regularity observed by those having business to transact in the Land Office. For six weeks preceding the 30th day of September, nearly, if not quite 3,000 persons attended, and the house frequently crowded from day light in the morning until dark, and not one single instance of disorder or irregularity happened, to molest the officers in the execution of their duty.—Indiana Gaz.
