THE LITTLE BELT.

Extract of a letter from Halifax, June 14.

"There is no doubt that the account published the day after the arrival of the Little Belt, respecting her contest with the frigate President, is in the main particulars, such as Capt. Bingham and the officers of the former, warranted by their statements, still adhere to, and will write home. If they are wrong, they will commit themselves to their government.

"A board of enquiry was appointed & sit on the 29th of May, and one of the officers who composed it has been heard to say, that they examined the officers of the ship, man by man, alone, and that he was thoroughly convinced the President fired the first broadside and commenced the action."
