Francis D. Moulton returned to Brooklyn yesterday forenoon, and immediately went to the office of United States Marshal Harlow, and was served with the writ of capias ad respondendum in the libel proceedings against him. He, then, with Marshal Harlow, went to the office of Tracy, Catlin & Broadhead, attorneys for Miss Proctor, where he told Gen. Tracy that he desired time to consult with his attorneys. The question of bail will be decided to-day by Judge Benedict.
A member of the Plymouth Church Investigating Committee said to a reporter yesterday that the paper referred to by Mr. Tilton as a record of Plymouth Church was not such in any proper sense. It is, said he, simply a statement by one William F. West, to which Mr. Tilton's attention was called by the Clerk of Plymouth Church. It is evidence, he said, of nothing except the fact that Mr. West became possessed of certain gossip, he being, it is believed, in collusion with Francis B. Carpenter, who, according to Mr. Tilton, accompanied Mr. West to Mr. Tilton's house on this business. Plymouth Church had nothing to do with the making or procuring of the so-called 'indictment.'
Gen. Butler arrived in this city yesterday from Boston, and left last evening for Washington. Messrs. Tilton and Moulton called on him during a visit at the Fifth Avenue Hotel.
