Lady Birds Tell Why They Are Unruffled When Their Mates Are Aloft

WHAT EVERY WOMAN

GLENN CURTISS AND MRS. CURTISS PHOTOGRAPHED JUST BEFORE A FLIGHT.

SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 23. - Does familiarity breed contempt in aviation?

Mrs. Glenn Curtiss, wife of the foremost American birdman, isn't at all afraid when her husband mounts into the sky in his winged craft. Possibly his repeated flights and the absence of serious accidents has sort of imbued Mrs. Curtiss with a spirit of confidence for the dangers. Anyhow, she says:

"I'm always anxious to have him do better than any one else, and perhaps that is why I'm not afraid when he flies.

Then, too, you know, I've been up with Mr. Curtiss and know how it feels up there.

The sensation of flying can not be described. It's pleasant, but to describe it - well, I can't begin to do so."
