Dublin. Dec. 3. Last Wednesday being the Anniversary of the Birth-Day of that worthy Patriot, the Rev. Dr. Swift, Dean of St. Patrick's, the same was observed with the utmost Expressions of Joy and Gratitude by all the People in and about the Liberties of St. Patrick, and in most Parts of this City and Suburbs. The Bells rang as usual on the most solemn Occasions, nineteen Park cannon fired several Rounds, four large Bonfires were upon the Steeple, and the Windows illuminated. There were many excellent Poems presented to him on the happy Occasion of his Birth; and there was a large Bonfire in St. Warburgh-Street, opposite to Hoey's-Alley, where this great and good Man was born, and not in England, as hath been falsely and maliciously reported, to deprive this Kingdom of the Honour of producing the greatest and most universal Genius of the World.
