LEXINGTON, March 20.

By a gentleman who arrived from Turkey the 23d inst. we are informed, that he passed the Scioto the 17th instant, and was told by the commanding Officer of that place, that a runner had lately came in, and informed that a number of Indians were preparing to attack the frontiers of Kentucky and to watch the Ohio river; in consequence of which the commanding officer dispatched an express to Congress.

On the 21st inst. three boats coming down the Ohio were attacked by the Indians, about three miles above the Scioto, the Indians were in possession of a boat which it is thought they had taken the day before: and which they manned with about fifteen men together with a large canoe manned all gave chase to the three boats; the three boats finding that they would be overtaken by the enemy, abandoned two of them and fixing three oars on a side to the other double manned them, by which they escaped; the Indians pursued them about twenty miles. All the goods and property on board the two boats left, fell into the hands of the enemy, supposed to be worth at least 1500£-No lives lost.
