A United Press dispatch received by the Nogales International Friday reads as follows:
"Kansas City, June 15, 1928
"Turning to the restive farm belt, the Republican national convention today chose Senator Charles Curtis of Kansas as its vice-presidential candidate to make the race with Hoover.
"The nomination came on the first ballot and later was made unanimous. Vote on the ballot resulted: Curtis 1052, McNider 2 Dawes 13, Ekern 19. Not voting. 3.
"Curtis arose from a jockey boy to a vice-presidential candidate. He is a descendent of Chief Plume, Kansas tribe of Indians. He is more jovial than the ordinary Indian.
"Arizona cast all its nine votes for Curtis."
