The Fraud,
We believe we can apply no more proper or just cognomen to the famed Counting Board of Louisiana, which has been in cheating session since the 11th of last month, than the one we head this short article with. We still hold fast to our first opinion, now matured and confirmed by all its surroundings, that the whole lay out is none other than a gross cheat and fraud, and that Radicalism, again defeated in Louisiana as in 1872, banks high on its doing good work and counting for them. More we read the more we learn of the Counting Board, we can perceive that there is nothing but rottenness in their put up delays, and that they are taking all the chances and doubts in their own favor, to which their own cheatings are to be added, and then again we are down, counted out, gone by the board, and all by the Board. Up to Saturday noon, which is the latest we can hear from them, they are yet cheating time and fooling away leisurely their working days, and cannot at these licks be through before the 15th of this month. When it is considered that three ordinary honest men can complete this work in less than five days we are sure our people will not think we are fool-hardy in the expression of our opinions against this premeditated fraud once more, and that we still cling to our first opinion, that the whole trick is a put up fraud and nothing else, and that we will again be the sufferers. We hope, and do so in the interest of right and justice, that it may turn out that we are mistaken, and if so no one will go farther to make the amende honorable than the Editor of the Democrat. Till then, and we fear a long off then, let us possess our souls in patience.
