'Protest Too Much'

To paraphrase Shakespeare - Methinks the gentlemen do protest too much. We've heard their frightened words and read their loaded statements.

We are becoming bored with their repetitious charges which can't be entirely substantiated. Perhaps, sensing this, they climb the trees they have heretofore been backing against.

But where is this phantom they fear? Who is he? We hear them call him "fanatic" .. "frustrated" . .. "super-patriotic" .."extremist" "sick" . . . "crackpot" .. . Do you know him? Do I know him?

They insist that he has a right to speak, but they im-

impugn his good sense. What does that make you if you listen to him? They say he's in the minority and quite impotent - yet they shout at us about him from the tree-tops.

Why? Can the gods beyond mortality tell us? What? Do I hear them answer? Yes! I can hear it clearly now. Let me quote them:

"Balance, my children. is all important in your world of limitation just as it is in all of Cosmos. Your world swings in the balance - and we do not mean to be funny. You see your world gradually dividing into two camps. One camp you call the Left. the other you call the Right.

Through the ages the extremes of both camps have taken their turn at what they mistakenly fancy is control of your world. They only fool themselves because their control' is only for an instant in the eons of Ongoing Consciousness.

"Now hear us tell you of balance as it affects you today.

You see the Left is presently in the ascendancy in every land, even your own. They would seek to subjugate you to their futile ends. Yet, in their subconscious they know that soon they reach the end of their road. Thus they begin to bluster and fume at phantoms.

"And you ask, Who are these phantoms . .. why do we not see them?' We answer, can you see us? We are those phantoms. We inject our thought speech into mortals on the Right to effect the Balance your world so sorely needs.

when we tell you that no eagle ever flew with just one wing. He needs both right and left if he would not fly in circles. Each time the-left wing clips the feathers of the right wing. we send new feathers to the right wing. This is the Law of Compensation and thus we help your country achieve Balance.

"As the Left among you cease their sophomoric chatter, and the Right among you lose their fear of the future. there arises among you a new breed, neither right nor left. and this nation shall indeed have a new birth of freedom."
