A GOOD CHURCH DESTROYED,

Seven years ago the founder of the Mongo mission in French Guinea, after almost superhuman effort, built what was considered a very fine church. True it had a roof of thatch and bamboo posts, but it was large, airy and had cost much good money gathered from anywhere and everywhere.

Last summer a terrific storm burst on the district and the church was struck by lightning and destroyed. Mgr. Lerouge, who writes about the disaster, adds that the Holy Ghost Fathers have had many trials of late years with bad harvests and deaths among the priests.
