Full Text

BOSTON, Nov. 4.

On Tuesday evening last between 9 and 10 o'clock, several seafaring men belonging to an outward-bound vessel went to the house of Capt. Joshua Beal, in Royal Exchange Lane, where a number of people victualled and lodged. The sailors being armed with clubs and cutlasses, bruised and cut the people greatly, one man had his head cut in so shocking a manner that a piece of his skull-bone was taken out, as also his arm cut and bruised terribly. Mrs. Beal was thrown out of a window and much bruised, and her daughter knocked down with a club in the yard while endeavouring to escape. Capt. Beal and others after receiving several blows and cuts were obliged to jump out of the windows to save their lives; they then robbed the house of clothes, linen, pewter, four beaver hats, and a number of other articles, which they carried off. Warrants were issued out to apprehend the villains, and four of them are taken and committed to gaol.
