NORFOLK, (VA) SEPT. 11.

The Sea Serpent in our waters --The following extract of a letter, from a gentleman of great respectability, to a relation in this town, dated New Kent Court House Va. Sept. 8th, will be read with some surprise by many. if not all of our subscribers--but, the respectable standing of the writer authorizes us to say, that he would not lend his name to give currency to any report, the truth of which he believed to be in any degree questionable.

" I know of nothing important to communicate, except that the SEA SERPENT was seen in Pamunkey-river on Friday last, by several gentlemen, whose veracity cannot be doubted--He was seen opposite to Mr. Henry Parham's about six miles below this place. The monster was floating up with the tide, and appeared to be feeding. It was seen to coil & uncoil as it ascended the river, and was estimated by Mr. Henry Parham, to be about 150 yards, in length ; this is certainly worthy of remark."--
