The celebrated PAUL JONES is to sail from L'Orient with one frigate and three large privateers. He will carry back the Bostonians, who have arrived here from Denmark within these eight or ten days. This intrepid mariner must be highly gratified with the distinguished reception he met with in this city. The testimonies of regard that his bravery procured him on every publick occasion, were well calculated to convince him of the glory he has gained on the coast of Ireland, and by his gallant engagement in the German sea. An idea of his spirit may be conceived by his repartee to Marshal Biron. This nobleman, whose table is always free to strangers of distinction, invited Jones to dinner, and during the repast, speaking of Captain Pearson, his adversary, whom the King of England had knighted. Jones answered, "I wish, Monsieur le Maréchal, to afford an opportunity for his being created a Lord!" The conversation changing, the Marshal asked if he had seen the review, and observed the manoeuvres of the regiment of guards? Jones replied, "I should have been better pleased to see their manoeuvres in St. James's Park."
