VIRGINIA ELECTION.

We congratulate our readers on the aspect of returns of the Virginia election. The whigs themselves appear to give up the state. The National Intelligencer of Saturday, speaks of imperfect returns, and those not particularly favorable to the whig cause.

In the First Congressional District, Holleman, the democratic candidate, has beaten Mallory, the present member.

Fifteenth Congressional District.— Returns have been received from only four counties in this district, but the whig vote falls so far short of the previous estimates, that there is little doubt of the election of Lucas, the democratic candidate, over Barton, the whig. Mr. Mason, conservative, was the member in the last Congress.

Fourteenth Congressional District.— Mason, the democratic candidate, has received a majority of eight over Mercer in Fairfax county, and a majority of 70 in Fauquier. In Prince William the democratic ticket had its usual majority.

Thirteenth Congressional District.— Banks is undoubtedly re-elected to Congress. In Spottsylvania county and Fredericksburgh precinct he had a gain of 63 over his majority the previous year.

Tenth Congressional District. The polls were not closed on Thursday in the city of Richmond and in the county, on account of the storm, but there is no doubt of the election of Botts, the whig candidate.

Francis E. Rives and John W. Jones, democratic members of Congress, are doubtless re-elected.

Dromgoole is re-elected to Congress, probably by a majority of three or four hundred.

The following is a list of the candidates for Congress in the respective districts:
