America's first International College Football Game provided Key West with a 'first', but the University of Havana "Caribes" ended up on the short end of a 46-0 score in their game with Stetson University last night.

The Fifth Annual Conch Bowl classic lured a crowd of 3,000 out to the high school stadium. Game time found thermometers sitting at 73 degrees.

Havana took the opening kick-off and showed offensive talent in early moments with quarterback Juan Jimenez leading the attack. After notching a first down, Jimenez tried an aerial which misfired into the arms of linebacker Terry Oswald, who returned to the Havana 24-yard marker. Oswald got ten yards on the Hatters' first rushing play and then a Dick Saltrick - Keith Shamrock pass netted the first score.

Joe Siekaniec, team manager and part-time place kicker, booted the extra point to put the Florida eleven in front by 7-0.

The Cubans' Jimenez was injured on the first play following the kickoff when he was bowled over as he aimed a pass. The ball came straight to Terry Hollingsworth who dashed 17 easy yards for the second score.

Kicker Siekaniec sent the ball through the uprights for the extra point.

Havana's offense stalled again before the initial period ended and a pass from Bob Waters to Tom Bouchlas gave the Hatters a 20-0 lead. The point was missed.

Hollingsworth sped over from the ten to make it 26-0 early in the second period. The extra point try was again missed.

Oswald crossed the goal line for still another Stetson score just before the half and Jim Hawkins converted to send the score to 33-0.

Havana's sputtering offense showed signs of life in the third quarter as the Cubans ripped off numerous gains and held the Hatters scoreless. Eliecer Ochoa, Candido Montoto and Sergio Cervantez were principal ground-gainers with the last named showing fancy running with one move forward of 46 yards.

Later in the game, Hollingsworth intercepted a pass and fed Jim Hearn a lateral. Hearn dashed 74 yards for a score.

Ray Henry sped 88 yards for the game's last touchdown just before the final whistle. Saltrick drop-kicked true for the extra point.

This Fifth Annual Conch Bowl game goes into the books with lots of credit going to the Lions Club, sponsors of the game.

The contest proved that the men from Havana, famed as ball-handlers in baseball, experience difficulty controlling the much larger pigskin. Fumbles during the fray were their downfall.
