DULL TIMES

W. R. Chamberlain, who has just returned from a trip to the Eastern portion of the State, having extended his journey as far as Elko, informs us that excessively dull times prevail along the line of the road.--Reno Journal.

The same condition of affairs also extends to Eureka. There never was a time in the history of the town when money was half so scarce as now. The mining troubles which prevailed here last winter, the cause of which is well understood, put the season back at least sixty days. We all hope for better times during the fall months, but whether our hopes are to be realized, of course, remains to be seen. The mining interests of the district were never more promising, but for some unaccountable reason the K K, with an abundance of ore in sight, is doing nothing, and the Eureka Consolidated fails to employ its usual complement of men. Until these two leading mines are again in full blast, it would seem like folly to predict any material change for the better in the business prospects of the town. Some valuable mines are opening up on Prospect mountain, but it will be some time yet before they begin to tell perceptibly on the prosperity of the district. The truth compels us to admit, all things considered, that the outlook is anything but flattering for a lively season. However, if Eureka Con. and K K should resume operations in old fashioned style at an early day, we might, in that doubtful event, anticipate a general brightening up of matters and things in this section at an equally early period.
