Cryptic Masonry.-Since the annual assembly of the Grand Council, held at Albany. on Feb. 7. three new councils have been constituted, dedicated, and the officers duly installed. On Feb. 18, Sing Sing Council, R. A. S. Masters. No. 62. Was duly constituted by the Most Illustrious Grand Master, G. Fred. Wittsee, assisted by Comps. Hayt, Osborn, Gordon, Chapman, King, and Mailler, of King Solomon's Council, No. 3l, of Newburg. Isaac B. Noxon was installed as T. I. Master; R. M. Douglass. D. I. Master; and Robert Laurence as P. C. of W., and the degrees were conferred upon nine candidates, after which all the companions repaired to the Hoffman House and partook of an elegant banquet. On Feb. 15, Portal Council, No. 60, R. and S. M., was constituted at Skaneateles, by Grand Marshal, O. W. Brown, Mortimer. H. Smith as Thrice Illustrious Master. On Monday evening, March 3, Hudson Council, No. 64, R. and S. M., Was installed at Hudson by the M. I. Grand Master, G. Fred. Wiltsee. Il. Comps. H. Syl. Smith, C. A. Evans, and R. Kidney are the principal officers. The ceremony was performed publicly in St. John's Hall, Hudson, in the presence of a large assembly. An able address was delivered by the Grand Master. This council has as fine paraphernalia and costumes as any in the jurisdiction, and from the "zeal and fervency" manifested by its officers, bids fair to rival other older councils in the jurisdiction. There seems to be at present much activity among the workmen in Cryptic Masonry, and the companions engaged in the good cause are anxiously looking forward to the second session of the General Convention, to meet in New York city the second week in June.
