A Shocking Occurrence.—On the 25th ult. Lewis F. a child about 14 months old, the son of Capt. Mathias Stover, near the Botetourt Springs, Virginia, at play with his brother Charles, about 2 years old, wandered within the circle of a bark mill near the house, while the manager had stept out, and by some means not distinctly known, poor Lewis got thrown down by the horse, or fell across the pathway of the bark breaker—a stone that at least weighed 1500 pounds, which rolled over his breast. Charles screamed and sprang before the horse, and prevented its passing over him the second time; his alarm was heard by a little girl near, who ran to the spot and took up the child a lifeless corpse.
