Full Text

[From the Gold Hill News of Aug. 9.]
A Devoted Wife. - The person who, next to Mr. Schussler himself, seemed most interested in the successful completion of the Water Company's new aqueduct, was the Chief Engineer's wife. While the great work was being prosecuted, this devoted woman was able to converse intelligently with her husband about the details of the enterprise, and to offer valuable advice. When the news of an accident or disaster to the pipe reached her ears the wife was not contented unless she could be near her husband to cheer and encourage him in his arduous duties. Their little child, also, was intensely interested in the success of the undertaking, and when she heard that the water had reached Virginia City, she uttered the ejaculation, "God bless papa's pipes!"
