Rev. Austin F. Munich, pastor of St. Rose's Church, this week announced a busy schedule for the church during the coming month. All masses at the church, scheduled for 7:30, 8:30, 10 and 11 o'clock Sunday morning, will be on daylight saving time.
Masses at the Mayberry Village Community Building will be celebrated each Sunday, starting this week, at 8 and 10 a. m., instead of the former hours, Father Munich said.
Members of the Men's Club will receive Holy Communion in a body at the 8:30 a. m. mass Sunday, after which a communion breakfast will be served at the Marco Polo restaurant on Burnside Avenue. Father McGurkin, Maryknoll missionary, will speak.
On Sunday, May 11, a large number of children in St. Rose's parish will receive their first Holy Communion at a special Mass to be celebrated at 9 o'clock. Parents of the children will receive Holy Communion with them. Special instructions for children receiving their first Communion will be held today at 3 p. m. in the church. Father Munich said. Girls will wear white dresses on May 11 and boys, white shirts. These are the only uniform requirements.
Confirmation will be administered by Bishop Henry J. O'Brien in St. Rose's Church Saturday, May 17, at 10 a. m. Special instruction for boys and girls being confirmed will be held in the church by Father Munich next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 3 p. m.
Religious instructions for children are held at St. Rose's after the 8:30 a. m. Mass on Sundays, on Mondays at 3 p. m., for pupils in the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grades at Burnside and Woodland schools and Saturday mornings at 9 o'clock for pupils in the first four grades.
