Washington.—Unemployed in Europe was placed at 9,000,000 by H. C. MacLean, Paris representative of the International Chamber of Commerce, in a report to the American section of that organization.

The European situation, said Mr. MacLean, is complicated by impending strikes resulting from the resistance of workers to the installation of machinery which they believe will displace labor.

Wage reductions are carefully installed throughout the Continent These are referred to as "slight, but downward revision."
