Playgrounds May Be Provided Soon

Board of Park Commissioners Making Plans for Playgrounds in Several Parts of Town.

According to present plans the Board of Park Commissioners will make an effort to provide play grounds in several parts of the town not now enjoying these facilities.

President John P. Fields of the board recently brought before the Town Council the matter of a play ground in the Meadow district, stating that the board was in favor of such a project. It was suggested that the board communicate with the state highway commissioner to obtain permission to use the area north of the Bulkeley bridge approach and this permission has been obtained but it will be necessary to build a fence along the river bank before the area can be used.

This will require an expenditure of money not now provided in the budget.

The board is now working on a project to provide playgrounds in the north and south ends of the town and in the Woodland area, where the recently formed Woodland Community Club went on record as favoring the establishment of a playground. A comprehensive WPA project along these lines is opposed by the board.
