West Virginia The Young Man's State-No State in the Union offers more inducements to the young men of energy, ambition and talent, whether poor or possessed of wealth, cultivated or still "in the rough," than our own young, growing State of West Virginia.
Here the emoluments and honors of high official positions, places of trust and responsibility, calling for the exercise of great qualifications and large intellectual capacities, are not withheld from men otherwise fully competent to the discharge of such trusts, on account of mere lack of gray hairs and wrinkles, as is the case in so many neighboring States. "Old Fogyism" holds no place in the councils of our rising, growing Commonwealth.
Young men of brain, here is the field for your advancement, whether in the path of literature, of scientific research, or in their practical application. Your youth will be no bar to your progress onward and upward. Here we have, as heretofore announced by us, the youngest Governor in the States; the youngest Bishop in the American hierarchy and, probably, in the World; the youngest Representative in the popular branch of our National Legislature; and the youngest University President on the Globe!
Don't "Go West, Young Man," but come to West Virginia where your worth will be appreciated, your muscle find exercise, and your ability be recognized and rewarded. West Virginia is, emphatically, The young man's State.-
